Swimming!

Hailey is signed up for swim lessons this fall and since I will be with newborn...Daddy is going to do swimming lessons with Hailey! We went to a special instructor training class which was free and I thought would be good intro pool time for Pete and Hailey. Well, okay...so it wasn't daddy training time...and Pete felt a bit lost, but he did a great job despite the lack of direction. It was fun to sit on the side lines and watch Hailey. She had fun and I am looking forward to seeing her and daddy progress in her fall swimming lessons (they start in a couple weeks!!!). :)

Evergreen State Fair FUN!

I got the idea for us to go to the fair around 5pm and off we went! Our favorite part was taking Hailey through the petting zoo. She had a blast with the animals and went through a little maze where she got to collect produce...an egg from under a chicken, apple from a tree and a potato from under the sand. She also got to milk a cow! We stopped for a potty break on the way there and then again before we loaded up in the car. She was so proud of herself, check out her big grins in all the potty pics. It was awesome that she was willing to sit outside on her toilet as cars flew by.... I couldn't help but take some pics.

Shower time!

Please ignore our disgusting shower walls and floor....it's the original install from the 80's (we think?). The grout is stained and the floor is very porous (maybe they used lots of comet?) and one day it's clean...and the next, dirty. I hate our shower. We've tried many many tools/cleaners to try and get it scrubbed clean and well, it just needs to all be replaced. Okay...obviously I hate our bathroom. So....um, here are cute pictures of our Hailey in the dirty shower. :)

Dinner at Prospect Street Cafe in Bellingham

Kyle and Kari treated us to a super amazing dinner at Prospect Street Cafe in Bellingham for our birthdays. We left our house just after 4pm and after a long traffic filled commute....we arrived around 7pm (yikes!). Kyle and Kari took Hailey with them to a friend's house and we headed off to our dinner - just the two of us (a rare date night!). We had so much fun and the food was amazing. Kyle's friend is the owner and chef and wow, a mighty good chef he is! We sat back and enjoyed our meals and the conversation was awesome. We had the most amazing plum garnished scallops with green beans and turnips (YUM!) there was a plum sauce and a green sauce...can't remember what it was, but it was good. Since I'm pregnant Pete and I had a few variances in our meals - I said no to the raw fish idea...so ended up with some delicious salmon while Pete enjoyed his ahi prepared 3 different and interesting ways (it looked neat and by the way it was all explained by our waitress, it sounded amazing). Next up we had some prosciutto wrapped halibut with a bacon butter sauce (Pete wants me to learn how to make some bacon butter sauce now...). Then we had some lamb with another great sauce (can't remember what it was though). Best lamb I've had! The lamb was served with warm goat cheese and fig and let me tell you, it was an excellent combo. I think I could sit and eat a whole bowl of goat cheese for dinner... ;) We ended our meal with dark chocolate flourless cakes served with ice cream and blueberries. In all honesty, I didn't need the blueberries or the ice cream....I'm a HUGE fan of any chocolate melting kind of cake....so I wasn't very slow to make it disappear.

We took our sweet time eating dinner. My hips/back/legs were a bit sore from sitting so long first in the car, then in the restaurant, but it was well worth it! Pete and I had such a great time lingering over our meal and talking about many hilarious things (including a few very serious topics - a good balance I'd say). I guess I never really realized how good date nights are for a couple...maybe I didn't realize what I was missing...but wow, it was incredible to be out with my man! I think we need date nights more often. It seems every few months isn't quite enough.

Anywho...after dinner we headed back to Kyle and Kari's and had a great time visiting with them (wish wish wish we lived closer!!!!!). We ended up heading home around 12:30 and pulled into our driveway at 2am. I managed to stay awake almost the whole way home...it wasn't until Kirkland that I started drifting into a daze.

Huge thank you to Kyle and Kari for giving us this great date night. It was awesome and I'm sure our marriage just improved a teeny bit. With our newest addition coming any day now we might not make it out on another special date night for a while, so you know...big thanks to K&K. It was great.

Hailey's first popsicle

Hailey has had a bite or two of my popsicles in the past, but this was a special day. We were at the lake and she got to have one all to herself. I would have shared with her...but Pete was there, and he didn't seem to mind her having one all to herself and aunt kimberly was being generous.

I can't wait to see the rest! We started the photoshoot at golden gardens and then went to the studio. Kendra came with us and it was fun to hang out with her for the day. :)
